For Today - April 12, 2010

Outside my window...another beautiful sunny day!

I am thinking...about how I miss the community that blogging used to be.

I am thankful for...4 of my blogging friends returning to blogging!

I am remembering...my brother.  We are coming up on the one year date of his death next month.  There isn't a day that I don't think of him & miss him.  There are times that I feel like my heart will break when I realize that he's really gone.  It still doesn't seem real.  I don't know if it ever will.

On my mind...how important blogging is as a tool to record a legacy of memories, not only for the blogger, but for the blogger's family & loved ones.  I think when we look back at the ordinary days & moments that we've posted, we will find that they weren't so ordinary afterall.  We sometimes don't realize just how special days are, until we revisit them.  My Mom told me years ago, "cherish every little moment, because someday all you will have left of them, are the memories."  I am trying to record those memories.

I am pondering these words..."So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Psalm 90:12

From the learning rooms....trying to learn more about my camera so that I can take better photos.

From the kitchen...quiet for now, but will soon be filled with the noise of me & these two that share my life, as we eat lunch.

I am wearing...white baby doll top & black pants

I am creating...a photo book documenting Emily & her LillyTrixieLilly (again - "Lilly for short", as Emily tells everyone).  Stuffed with fluff or not, just going over the photos makes me teary, as I see this sweet, sweet childhood relationship through the years.

I am going...to relax this afternoon, after having been out all morning running some errands.

I am reading...my Bible (on my Kindle) & the Adventures of Little Bear to Elliot & Emily.

I am hoping...more of the former bloggers that I have contacted, decide to come back.

I am hearing...nothing but the keys as I type.  Emily is quietly decorating a cupcake on the iTouch, & Elliot is playing games.

Around the house...we finished the wood flooring yesterday, so lots to do to get things put back in place.  Feels 'so' good to have this done!

One of my favorite things...watching Elliot & Emily's face when I tell them that an adventure is about to happen. They know that means FUN!

A few plans for the rest of the week...a surprise trip to the dinosaur museum (again) - this is one of those adventures, get everything put  back in place from moving things out of the 2 rooms that got wood floors, shop for summer clothing for Elliot - he is growing out of everything, work on the photo book, enjoy my friends & family.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...Since I'm working on the photo book of Emily & Lilly, I want to share 3 pictures from last February.  Emily was concerned because "Lilly isn't feeling well", so she got her doctor kit & gave her a check-up.

Dr. Emily decided that Lilly had to have a shot -

Her final verdit?  Lilly had a thorn in her paw, so she put a bandage over it -

  9. Hi Judy,
I just wanted to thank you for popping into my blog this week and leaving your lovely message.
I so agree with you that keeping this blog will be a good legacy for our children. I'm terrible at writing a journal - in a book - and always loose interest really quickly once I've started - but doing this, with lots of other like minded ladies is a real treat. I like to visit a few ladies each week to get a flavour of their lives. It's wonderful.
I shall be thinking of you this coming week as the anniversary of losing your brother comes near. I lost my Mum just over a year ago and know how hard all those first anniversaries are.
May God hold you near and bless you and your lovely children.
